Canada has been ranked 4th out of 162 countries on the Human Freedom Index 2019, much higher than any other top 10 oil exporter in the world (in order: Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Canada, Kuwait, UAE, USA, Iran, Nigeria, Kazakhstan). Way to go Canada!

First published in 2002 by Yale University and Columbia University in collaboration with the World Economic Forum and Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, the EPI measures 180 countries on several indicators across two main categories: Environmental Health and Ecosystem Vitality.
Overall, Canada ranks 25th on the EPI 2018, far above all other top 10 oil exporting countries of the world save the United States who came in at a close 27th.Read more
Did you know that Canada, one of the world’s top 10 oil exporters, ranked 6th out of 167 countries on the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Democracy Index 2018?
First published in 2006, this index has set out each year since to measure the “state of democracy” in these countries using 60 different indicators across five categories, including:

- Functioning of government
- Political participation
- Democratic political culture
- Civil liberties
The EIU found Canada to be one of 20 nations evaluated as a “full democracy” with a score of 9.15 out of 10.00, and that just 4.5% of the world’s population live in a country categorized as such.
