Canada has one of the world’s largest reserves of oil, yet some provinces are still dependent on other countries to fuel their economy. Each year, we’re spending billions of dollars to import oil that could be sourced locally instead.

It’s time for Canada to come up with a serious plan to use the resources we have to become energy independent.
Recently, Premiers Ford, Smith, and Moe signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore options to build a major pipeline from west to east that would help us do just that. Shortly after the MOU was signed, the Ontario government took it a step further and issued an RFP to begin working out the details to move forward with this critical initiative.
In addition to positioning us to meet our own energy needs with domestically produced oil and gas, building a major new pipeline will also open new international trade opportunities, providing access to new trading partners and reducing our economic dependence on the U.S.
Furthermore, major pipelines and trade infrastructure can be built with Canadian steel, creating industrial demand for Canadian workers who may be affected by trade tariffs.
In short, building additional oil and gas pipelines across Canada is a key initiative for our prosperity.
We’re pleased to see Canada’s leaders taking action to secure our future, and we want to encourage them to keep going!
