Send Premier Houston an email, encouraging him to keep doing the right thing for Canada's economic future.
It’s easy to talk about building a stronger Canada, but taking real action and delivering real results is another story.
That’s why it's been refreshing to see some of our elected leaders actually walking the talk in recent months.
We'd like to invite you to join us in taking a moment to recognize some of those efforts.
Over the past several months, Premier Tim Houston has been taking enormous strides forward to unleash Nova Scotia's economy, starting with its energy sector.
The Premier's ambitious goals could be a turning point for Nova Scotia’s economy. If implemented as stated, they would likely have a remarkable impact on the province’s economic outlook.

We think it’s time to officially recognize this leadership and send the Premier a big thank you for everything he and his government have done.

Here’s just a few highlights of the positive steps Nova Scotia has taken to build a stronger Canada:
1) Real Energy Leadership
In a rare move, Premier Tim Houston personally assumed the role of Minister of Energy. By bringing this portfolio under his direct leadership, Houston signaled that energy development is the central pillar of his economic agenda. He’s gone so far as to officially state that his primary goal is to transform Nova Scotia into an "energy superpower" by aggressively pursuing untapped offshore and onshore resources - including natural gas and wind - to drive long-term prosperity.
2) Renewed Oil and Gas Focus
The Houston government is decisively re-opening the province to oil and gas development to achieve energy self-reliance:
- Offshore Exploration: In April 2026, Nova Scotia announced a $210M offshore project by an international operator, aiming to tap into an estimated 49 billion barrels of oil.
- Lifting the Hydraulic Fracturing Ban: By repealing the ban on hydraulic fracturing, Premier Houston has sent a clear signal that Nova Scotia is open for business, and paved the way for new research and investment opportunities in their economy.
3) Supporting Uranium Exploration
As the world shifts towards nuclear energy, Canada has an enormous opportunity to be a leader in this space.
Moving to end what he called "lazy" policy, Houston repealed the decades-old ban on uranium exploration and mining in 2025. This move was designed to signal to the global mining industry that Nova Scotia is open for business. While early calls for exploration bids saw limited initial interest, the government views uranium as a critical resource for the future of global clean nuclear energy.
4) “One Project, One Review” Policy
It’s no secret that Canada has been getting in its own way with complicated regulatory review processes.
In March 2026, Nova Scotia signed a historic co-operation agreement with the federal government to streamline environmental assessments. This "one project, one review" model eliminates duplication between federal and provincial regulators, cutting red tape and significantly shortening timelines for major infrastructure like offshore wind farms and mining developments.
5) Strategic Economic Diversification
PM Mark Carney laid out a clear and ambitious goal to double our non-U.S. exports over the next decade, and Nova Scotia is pulling its weight.
Beyond energy, Houston is pivoting the province toward economic self-reliance by investing in high-growth energy and resource sectors:
- Hydrogen: Positioned as a transformational industry with multi-billion dollar potential.
- Critical Minerals: Pushing for new mining projects (like lithium and gold) to feed the global supply chain for modern technology.

This is exactly the sort of economic leadership Canada needs right now.
If you agree, we’d like to ask that you please take a moment to send the Premier an email thanking him for having the wisdom and forward thinking to make it happen.
