Support for the Ksi Lisims LNG Project

295 Goal: 1,000

This month, Canada made history when LNG Canada shipped its first liquefied natural gas cargo to Asia. This is a significant step forward for Canada’s critical goal of diversifying our trading partners beyond the United States.

However, there are still limitless opportunities for us to continue diversifying our trade, thereby allowing us to secure our economic sovereignty.

One immediate opportunity is Ksi Lisims LNG, an up-and-coming export facility with the Nisga’a Nation as the leading proponent. The project offers substantial economic and strategic value for British Columbians, Indigenous Peoples, and Canadians, with an estimated 21,000 job opportunities to be created if it goes ahead [1]. Ksi Lisims LNG is also projected to generate $890 million in annual tax revenues to help pay for our schools, hospitals, roads, and social programs, and give a $2.5 billion boost in gross domestic product (GDP) for Canadians every year [1].

  • Indigenous ownership and leadership
The Nisga’a Nation, through a joint venture, owns the PRGT pipeline, giving one of Canada’s Indigenous communities an opportunity to directly benefit from LNG expansion [2].

  • Enabling Canada’s LNG opportunities
The PRGT pipeline, acquired in 2024, will supply natural gas directly to the Ksi Lisims terminal, meaning these two projects are inextricably linked [3].

  • Diversification for Canadian trade partners
Located on the northwest coast of B.C., the project gives Canadian-made natural gas direct access to energy-hungry markets in Asia, reducing our economic dependency on America [4].

The Ksi Lisims LNG terminal is an essential part of BC’s natural gas strategy, which is creating thousands of jobs and billions of dollars of economic opportunities for Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians alike [5].
