72% of Canadians Support Oil & Gas Exports to Strengthen Energy Security: POLL

A new poll conducted by Nanos Research for the University of Ottawa’s Positive Energy series reveals that a large majority of Canadians, the highest amount since tracking began, agree that Canada should expand oil and natural gas exports to strengthen energy security. Conducted from July 31st to August 6th, 2025, with 1,034 respondents, the poll also found that recognition of the sector’s significant economic impact on Canada’s current and future economy remains [1].

The "Positive Energy July 2025" report, which has been tracking Canadian sentiment on energy issues since 2020, reveals consistent support for our nation’s job-creating, prosperity-generating conventional energy sector. The survey's findings send a clear message: Canadians understand the vital role that oil and natural gas play in the national economy, as well as the potential our nation has to enhance energy security abroad.
